People often ask me why I chose adoption law as a limited practice area.  Well, here's my story.  I hope it gives you more insight into who I am and why I have a passion for aiding birth parents, children, and adoptive parents in their adoption.

When I was growing up, I lived in a very small town in Northern Oklahoma.  Most of my friends were either pregnant or married before graduating from high school.  Upon graduation, I knew that I wanted to help women to explore other choices besides parenting or abortion.   Four year later, I graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a Bachelors Degree in Political Science (pre-law) and a Bachelors in Communications.  Thereafter, I entered law school and graduated three years later at Oklahoma City University in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma with a Juris Doctorate in Law.

Shortly after entering private practice, I helped my best friend adopt.  She and her husband were infertile.   They had no other way of building a family since the doctors couldn't figure out why they couldn't conceive.  Since that time, I have aided over 2000 families, birthparents and children, find their way together in building a family.   I hope that I can help you as well.

If you are looking for a birth parent or already have a birth parent you are working with, I can help you through private adoption in Oklahoma.   Further, Oklahoma has great laws that allow for finalization in Oklahoma if you are an out of state client as well as favorable laws for birth parent terminations.   In Oklahoma, birth mothers go to court shortly after birth and sign a relinquishment which is irrevocable in front of a Judge.   Birthfathers have the option of signing before birth or after if they are willing to participate in the adoption plan.   There are many other options for involuntarily terminations.   Please call my office if you have questions on termination of birth parents rights.  I would be happy to help and explain the law as it would relate to your specific situation.

If you have already found a birth mother in Oklahoma, your adoption is called a "designated adoption".  Sometimes it is difficult or confusing when trying to figure out whether to use an attorney or agency.   My office directs clients to agencies (for those clients who live in state which require an agency to take the consent) that can best fit their needs and the birth parents needs.   If you don't need an agency or do not wish to use one, the next paragraph should give you some more information.

For those adoptive parents who have chosen an independent adoption, my office can help you without the necessity of an agency.  Here is a list of just a few things my office can help you with during your adoption process:  Meeting with your potential birth parents; getting the birth mother to court for her relinquishment hearing after birth;  finding legal representation for your birth mother during her terminating procedures; terminating the birth father's rights who is not signing a consent; making sure you are represented as the adoptive parent(s); completing the Interstate Compact for the Adoption of Children (required for couples who live in a state other than the state the child is born in), speaking with the adoption professional in the couples home state and gathering all necessary documents (attorney and/or agency), aiding couples in getting legal custody of the child after birth, finding counseling (mental health) for your birth parent(s), processing a new birth certificate, finalizing the adoption if you choose to finalize in Oklahoma.

If you have not found a child to adopt and you would like help in locating a birth mother or agency that can match you quickly, please call my office and speak to me directly.  I will try to direct you to the right professional if I can.

Lastly, whether you decide to use my services or use another attorney with the American Academy,  I hope that your adoption experience is a wonderful one and that adopting whatever child is blessed to be in your home brings joy and happiness to you and your family.   Thank you for your time.

 Warmly,

Ginny Frank
